Bell Homes Breaks Ground in Cinderford: A Development Built on Family Roots
Bell Homes has officially broken ground on its new development in Cinderford, marking a significant milestone for the family-run housebuilder and a homecoming of sorts for a business that has always considered the Forest of Dean home.
The site, Founders Field, was launched with a 'first dig' event attended by Cllr Di Martin (representing Matt Bishop MP) of Forest of Dean District Council, alongside members of the Bell Homes team. The development holds particular significance: it is named in memory of Keith Bell, who founded the company, and is in the very town where Bell Homes' story first began.
Fittingly, it was Keith's son, Pete Bell, now CEO of Bell Homes, who broke ground on the site.
"This is a really proud moment for our family. Cinderford is where our story began, and to be building new homes here, on a development named after my father, Keith Bell, makes this site incredibly special. Dad built his business on hard work, honesty and a genuine commitment to the communities we serve. As we break ground at Founders Field, we're proud to continue that legacy by creating homes that future generations of families can enjoy.” – Pete Bell, CEO.
Ahead of the ceremonial dig, the delegation was given a tour of the site, with the Bell Homes team talking through the development plans, plot layouts, and the wider benefits the scheme will bring to the local community.
A Development With Deeper Meaning
For Bell Homes, Founders Field is more than another addition to a growing portfolio of developments across Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. Coming shortly after new build launches such as Old Dairy Way, Cherry Tree Mews, Athelstans Meadow, Stoke Lacy, and Fuggles Way, this scheme carries the added weight of family legacy and local heritage.
“A strong local economy depends on creating places where people want to live, businesses want to invest and young people can see a future. Founders Field is more than a housing development; it's an investment in Cinderford's long-term prosperity. As a family business rooted here, we're proud to be playing our part in shaping the next chapter of the Forest of Dean which is long overdue.” – Nicola Bell, COO
Work on site is now under way, with further updates on the development (including plot releases and show home news) to follow in the coming months.
